The USC basketball team has gotten off to a solid start this season, but there are still certain areas the team needs to improve on if they want to achieve their goals.

Head coach Hubert Davis admits that the Tar Heels need to improve their rebounding and defense. The numbers bear this out, as UNC ranks 49th in defensive efficiency and 91st in offensive rebounding percentage through nine games.

Despite these concerns, senior guard RJ Davis and fifth-year center Armando Bacote are confident in the team’s progress. Bacot believes the Tar Heels are “fully gelled” and can take what the defense gives them.

The Tar Heels will have a chance to address their weaknesses during the 10-day break before they take on Kentucky. If they can improve their defense and rebounding, the NAIA will be a strong contender for the National Championship.
