A team of scientists at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, made a breakthrough in artificial intelligence (AI) research: they asked the two AI systems to conduct unprecedented language exchanges. The results were published in the latest issue of “Nature · Neuroscience”.

The artificial neural network model developed by the researchers shows the ability of the AI system to explain the language instructions and perform the task accordingly. After learning and performing a series of basic tasks, one of the AI systems can provide the language description of these tasks to its “sisters” AI system, while the latter performs these tasks.

The artificial intelligence model used in the study is based on the S-Bert system structure, consisting of 300 million neurons trained by language understanding.By carefully designed the training solution for the human cognitive process, the network was first taught and explained the language input similar to the Wennik district, which is responsible for language understanding.Subsequently, it was trained to copy the task, similar to the Broka district, responsible for the execution and pronunciation of the task.

Dr. Rearl Riffland, who participated in this research, explained that the neural network learned to interpret English instructions and perform various tasks, including instructions stimulating positions and responding to visual prompts. After training, it can effectively describe these tasks to another AI system.

The two AI systems communicate through language without relying on predefined commands or programming. In addition to academic significance, this breakthrough also brings great hope for practical applications, especially in the field of robotics.

The ability to let the machine has the ability to understand and execute language instructions, laid the foundation for the independent collaboration and problems of advanced human robots in the future.Looking forward to the future, researchers believe that the AI system will not only deeply understand human beings, but also achieve mutual interaction and collaboration in the way of almost human communication, which indicates that AI technology will open a new era of development.
