The Denver Nuggets extended their winning streak to six games with a narrow victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Nikola Jokic had 32 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists for the Nuggets, while the Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard had 24 points and eight rebounds.

After the game, former NBA player and current TNT Inside the NBA team analyst Shaquille O’Neal criticized Clippers head coach Ty Lue for not adapting to Jokic’s dominant performance. O’Neal said Lue’s decision to stick with a small-ball lineup didn’t work for Jokic, who was able to score at will inside.

“The only mistake he made tonight – and you talk about switching defenses when you’ve got a big man – Joeckel’s not your average big man. Because even if you do all those blocks and put him at a disadvantage, what are you going to do on the other end? Small ball doesn’t work,” O’Neal said.

O’Neal also criticized the Clippers’ tendency to rely on hero ball late in games.

They wait until late in the game to try hero ball,……,” O’Neal said. That’s how you win championships now. O’Neal added.

Jokic is currently the favorite to win his third consecutive MVP. He is contributing 29.8 points, 13.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game this season.

The Nuggets will face a tough test in the coming weeks as they embark on a five-game road trip. They will take on the New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets.
